As the Stormwater and Toxics Policy Manager, Michelle works on policy approaches to reduce stormwater and toxics impacts on water, wildlife, and people. Michelle’s passion for Puget Sound developed during her graduate work at the University of Washington studying the effects of stormwater on salmon. Although she loved wearing the scientist hat, she wanted to work through a more people-focused lens and decided to enter the policy world. As a Sea Grant Knauss Marine Policy Fellow in Washington DC, Michelle drafted and analyzed legislation related to environmental justice, coastal resilience, and more. At WEC, Michelle is excited to combine her passions for promoting environmental justice and Puget Sound recovery. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys being in the mountains, on the water, and experimenting with new recipes.
