Take Legal Action
One of the best ways to protect the environment is to enforce the laws that are already on the books. That’s exactly what WEC’s Legal Program has been doing for decades.
The WEC Legal Program relies on a broad network of attorneys – both those working for private law firms and those employed by other non-profit organizations. They work in a coordinated effort to safeguard the natural resources of the State of Washington.
The Legal Program has been a mainstay of WEC’s 40-year history of successful advocacy for the environment. From the Okanogan Highlands to Ocean Shores, the Snake River to the Straits of Georgia, and just about everywhere in between, WEC has won cases and taken influential legal actions. Our attorneys have appeared before local hearing examiners, administrative boards, state and federal courts, and even the United States Supreme Court.
Not surprisingly, many of WEC’s campaigns to protect special places in our state have involved some element of legal action.
