Editorial in The Olympian highlighting the importance of protecting I-937.
"In 2006, voters passed Initiative 937, which requires electric utilities to focus on energy conservation and the use of renewable energy resources.
The voter-approved initiative targets utilities with at least 25,000 customers and sets goals or benchmarks. For example, by 2020 utilities must secure 15 percent of their energy from new renewable resources such as wind and solar power or through energy conservation. The far-reaching initiative pushes the utilities toward green power.
But now the state Legislature is trying to roll back provisions of the law put in place by voters three short years ago..."
