Gregoire welcomes Obama emissions plan

"Gov. Chris Gregoire and the state’s environmental community Monday
hailed President Obama’s announcement that he will review the Bush
administration’s refusal to permit states to set auto tailpipe emission
standards stricter than the national rules.
“I applaud this move
by President Obama to address emission standards, a change I’ve been
advocating since 2007,” the governor said in a statement. “This
decision will help protect the planet as we work with the federal
government to tackle one of our most pressing environmental problems.
Motor vehicles produce more than half the greenhouse gas emissions in
Washington. Making investments now to protect our health and
environment will cost us far less in the long run...”
