On Monday, July 12th, the Army Corps of Engineers will be holding a public information and scoping meeting on the court-ordered Environmental Impact Statement on the Glacier NW Maury Island proposal. We are asking our members to attend and stand up for a healthy future for the Sound. Project information will be presented and oral comments will be accepted at this scoping meeting with a subsequent written commentary period open until August 13.
A state-issued ID such as a driver's license is required for entrance to the Federal Center.

Background Info:
Last summer, after a lawsuit by WEC and our partners, a federal judge ruled that in issuing the permits that would allow a gravel mine to go forward near this fragile habitat, the Army Corps of Engineers had violated both the Endangered Species Act and the National Environmental Policy Act. This was a huge win, but our work is not yet done.
The ruling directed the development of an Environmental Impact Statement to investigate the environmental, social, and public health impacts of the Glacier NW Maury Island proposal.
Please see some important information on the Environmental Impact Statement and scoping process from our partners at Preserve Our Islands.
